Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add a show?
Type the show title in the search box at the top and press Return. Tap the correct result from the list, then tap Fetch Episodes to add it to your library with all seasons and episodes.
What if multiple shows come up in search?
If there are multiple results, scroll through the list and tap the correct show, then press Fetch Episodes to add that specific one.
How do I track episodes I've watched?
Tap a show name in your list to expand its episode list. Tap any episode to toggle it between watched (checkmark) and unwatched. Your progress saves automatically.
What do the orange and gray dates next to episodes mean?
Unwatched episodes show their airdate. Orange means the episode hasn't aired yet (it's coming up). Gray means it already aired but you haven't watched it. Watched episodes hide the date.
What does the green dot mean?
A green dot next to a show means you have at least one episode you haven't marked as watched yet. No green dot means you're fully caught up on that show.
How do I add movies?
Use the Shows / Movies toggle at the top to switch to Movies mode, then search and add movies just like shows. Tap the checkmark box on a movie to mark it watched.
What are the ★ ratings?
Show Tracker shows the The Movie Database (TMDB) rating (out of 10) next to every show, movie, and search result — so you can spot the good stuff instantly.
What is the Trending tab?
The Trending tab shows this week's top 10 shows and movies. Tap any row to open a detail popup with a larger poster, rating, status or runtime, streaming providers, genres, and a full description — then add it with one tap.
How do I find similar shows or movies?
Tap Similar on any show or movie in your list to see recommendations from TMDB. You can add any of them straight to your list.
How do I get new episodes for a show I've already added?
Show Tracker automatically fetches episodes for any show that doesn't have them yet — for example, a show you added on another device. To refresh a show that's already in your list, search for it again and tap Fetch Episodes; it updates in place.
What does the TMDb logo do?
Tapping the TMDb logo in the toolbar opens The Movie Database website in your browser.
Is there a free limit? What is Unlimited?
Show Tracker is free to download and use for up to 5 shows and 5 movies. A one-time $1.99 Unlimited purchase removes the limit, includes all future features, and syncs across your devices. Existing users who already have a library are automatically grandfathered in.
How does iCloud sync work?
Show Tracker syncs your data through your personal iCloud account. It syncs automatically when your data changes, when the app opens, and when iCloud sends an external-change notification. It may take a moment to sync across devices.
How do I delete a show?
Tap the trash icon next to a show and confirm the deletion prompt. Shows are never deleted by a stray tap — confirmation is always required.
Where does show data come from?
Show Tracker uses The Movie Database (TMDB) for show metadata, episode lists, ratings, descriptions, streaming providers, and poster images.
What iOS version is required?
Show Tracker requires iOS 16 or later. It runs on both iPhone and iPad.
